energy for everyone

Propane provides a solution.

The MA Clean Heat Standard takes away your choice to use propane as your fuel.

What is the MA Clean Heat Standard?

The Massachusetts Clean Heat Standard is a regulation that was introduced in the Massachusetts Clean Energy and Climate Plan for 2025 and 2030 (also known as the “2025/2030 CECP”).  This regulation would eliminate consumer choice by disincentivizing the use of propane and other heating fuels.  Send an email to your State Representatives today and tell them you oppose the MA Clean Heat Standard.

What does this mean for you?

  • Increase taxes on your propane bill
  • Force you to replace your existing furnace or boiler with a potentially costly heat pump
  • Take away your right to choose propane or any other heating fuel

Propane is Ready

Propane has critical uses when electricity is unavailable.  Propane generators are widely used as backup power for medical facilities in the event of a power outage.  The MA Clean Heat Standard would require propane companies to prioritize electrical appliances, despite the fact that they are less reliable than gas appliances.

Propane is Clean

Propane was declared a clean fuel in the Clean Air Act of 1990 and meets all required standards, yet propane companies will be subject to the MA Clean Heat Standard.  The MA Clean Heat Standard could greatly impact the service companies provide to their customers.

Propane is Efficient

Gas powered appliances still beat out electric appliances when it comes to efficiency.  Efficiency means more savings for you!  Despite the fact that there is evidence that states that gas appliances are more efficient, the MA Clean Heat Standard would disincentivize propane companies to provide exceptional service and delivery to customers who use propane appliances.

Propane is Equitable

Propane is readily available for customers in rural locations and areas where access to a pipeline is not available.  The MA Clean Heat Standard states that they will prioritize communities burdened by rising heating costs, but does not outline a specific plan for how to accomplish this.
